Q:

What is Media Representation?

Media representatives sell commercial time on behalf of local radio and television stations, as well as cable systems, to advertisers outside of the local market. If an advertiser in New York wants to run a spot in New York, he or she would contact the station directly. If that same advertiser wants to run a spot in Phoenix, however, he or she would need to contact a representative of the station to buy the air-time he or she needs. Generally, advertising agencies and media-buying shops are the ones who purchase spot time. Most TV and radio stations have a local staff to handle sales in their own markets but need to be represented to work with advertisers from across the nation.

In business since 1888, Katz has hundreds of salespeople in our 20 offices nationwide. We are the oldest and largest media representation firm in the country. With locations in all major advertising markets, Katz is dedicated and strategically positioned to best serve our clients—from the smallest station to the largest.
