KATZ MEDIA GROUP LIVES UNITED

New York, December 3, 2008 – Katz Media Group employees raised almost $13,000 for the United Way, a national network of more than 1,300 local organizations that provides support for nonprofit and community programs. The two-week initiative marked the first time Katz worked with the United Way.

The campaign kicked off with a breakfast to educate employees about the United Way’s mission. United Way volunteers shared information about the organization’s projects that focus on healthcare awareness, financial literacy and education. To promote the fundraiser, Katz created a series of communications featuring employees wearing United Way t-shirts with the campaign slogan, LIVE UNITED.

A United Way trivia contest helped raise awareness by encouraging staff members to visit the nonprofit’s website to find answers. Winners were awarded giftcards and United Way t-shirts. A raffle, which auctioned off free vacation days, was also a part of the fundraiser.

In addition to pledging money, employees volunteered to make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, which were used by the Yorkville Common Pantry to feed hungry individuals and families. Thirty employees donated time from their workday to make over 450 sandwiches. Katz plans to establish its United Way campaign annually and add additional opportunities for employees to donate and volunteer.
